-- UNDERSTANDING YOUR WEB E-MAIL--

By hosting your web site with Blue Spider Creations, you automatically have access to e-mail addresses with your domain name:

myEmail@mydomain.com

Although this article is specifically geared for Blue Spider Creations hosting, the information will be equally helpful for most other hosting providers as well.

Once you have your domain e-mail addresses established, you have three ways to access your e-mail address(es):

  1. Have your web e-mail redirected to an existing e-mail address which you prefer to use. Since you don’t have to do anything, most clients prefer this option. The only downside is that if your mailbox can no accommodate your web mail, you may no know about it and consequently miss some e-mail.
  2. Configure your e-mail client (i.e. Outlook) to download your webmail with all of your regular e-mail. Here’s how to do it with Outlook Express:
    1. With Outlook Express open, click on Tools…Account. Click the mail tab to see a list of all of your configured e-mail accounts.
    2. Adding a new e-mail account

    3. Click Add…Mail. Fill in each screen:
      1. Your name:
        Setting up e-mail
      2. Your e-mail :
        Setting up e-mail
      3. Your e-mail servers. Both servers will have the same name – mail.yourdomain.com. Ex. mail.bluespidercreations.com.
        Setting up e-mail
      4. Your e-mail logon. Your Account name will be your complete e-mail address. Your password will be whatever password you’ve been assigned for your e-mail account.
        Setting up e-mail
      5. Click ‘Finish’ to complete the process.
    4. Now your e-mail client should check this new additional e-mail account every time it checks for new mail.
  3. You can also access your web e-mail from anywhere online. Go to http://webmail.yourdomain.com. Log in with your e-mail address and password. You will see all of your e-mail. If you use option #2, only the e-mail which hasn’t been downloaded to your e-mail client already will appear.
